Our 2012 vintage awarded Gold and Silver
We're celebrating the great news that this year once again, our Tour De Belfort red and white wines, 2012 vintage, have been awarded prestigious medals: Gold for our red by the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, and Silver for our white by the Vignerons Indépendants (National Federation of Independent winemakers). This gives us a total of 12 awards since our first vintage of 2009.
Quality wines are usually associated with older vines; however we compensate for the youth of our vines with extremely low yields. We also feel that our decision to entirely replant our vineyard, was the right choice, allowing us to select only the best “terroirs” to match our blend of grape varieties.
Our vineyard has been organic from day one and making award winning wines has been a real challenge from the start, no herbicides for weeding, no fertilizer, no pesticides against the extensive range of pest and illness that can plague a vine. We had to work hard and every day to cut, sort, and protect our grapes walking endlessly up and down our rows of vines.
Our winemaking is also gentle and as natural as possible with no modern wine making techniques such as over-extraction of tannins, use of additives to create seductive wines with an identical taste year after year.
We attach tremendous importance to the character of our wines, to let them develop with their own personality, varying from vintage to vintage. We firmly believe our wines should only reflect the aromas and quality of our grapes.
